A journey Steeped in History

Thomas Bain, well known for building many of the country’s famous mountain passes, completed the Storms River Pass in the late 1800’s. The pass bears Bains’ hallmark features of packed stone retaining walls, and masterful contour gradients, no easy feat in the hostile forests of the Southern Cape over a century ago.
